What Is a Walk-In Clinic?
Prior to Tryouts and sometimes during the Club Season, Beach Cities
Volleybal provides Walk-In Clinics for players. This means that players
do not have to reserve space in the Clinic, but just need to arrive
and register (walk in) for the clinic. The clinics are usually
around two hours long and are inexpensive; usually just around $10 or
$20 for each clinic.
What
Occurs At The Walk-In Clinic?
1 The players arrive and register, filling out & signing the appropriate
registration form and paying the Clinic fees, which are $10 this year.
2. The players are divided into groups, based on their age & volleyball
experience
3. Each group spends time in stations. Each station focuses on a different
skill. Each group rotates to all stations. In this way the participants
receive instruction in serving, passing, setting, spiking, game conditions,
blocking, etc. Less-experienced groups will be more focused on fundamentals,
while more-experienced groups may receive more advanced instruction,
like jump-serving, passing off difficult serves, digging down balls,
hitting off the block, etc.
Are
Players Participating in the Walk-In Clinics Required to Join BCVC?
No. In the same manner as many of the players that participate in our
Summer Camps & Clinics play for other Clubs, or do not play Club
Volleyball, there is no requirement that players attending the Walk
In Clinics try out or play for Beach Cities Volleyball.
Are
the Walk In Clinics the Same as Tryouts?
No. Players participating in the Walk In Clinics have no requirement
to try out for Beach Cities Volleyball. Players participating in the
Walk In Clinics that want to play for Beach Cities Volleyball during
the Club Season are still required to attend Beach Cities Volleyball
tryouts.
