Beach Cities Indoor Volleyball Camps & Clinics

Summer 2008

 

Beginning Camp (7 yrs & up) teaches the fundamentals of passing, serving, setting & hitting. Intended for players without experience to those with light experience hoping to start club or competitive school teams

Intermediate Camp (11-16 yrs) covers a more advanced level of fundamentals. Intended for players varying in experience with limited exposure to school or beach volleyball to those with 1-2 yrs Club experience

Intermediate Clinic (11-18 yrs) is for those wanting to improve their performance on their Club or School team. Jump serves, back sets, blocking is included

Advanced Clinic (12-18 yrs) included added emphasis on game strategies, tough passing off the serve, blocking & defensive strategies. Experience will vary from 1-2 yrs significant club experience to strong High School experience to those getting ready for college competition

 

Clinics will include one day at Velocity Sports Performance, 2607 Manhattan Beach Blvd, Redondo Beach (near northwest corner of Manhattan Beach Blvd & Inglewood, just west of the 405). Players will develop athletic skills for volleyball including quickness on the court, an explosive vertical for blocking & hitting and core strength for shot power and accuracy

 

·       Players will be placed in small groups of similar ability

·       Groups will travel to several stations, each focusing on an individual skill

·       Tournaments will also be played at the Advanced & Intermediate Clinics

 

Weekly Summer Program Schedule

Week 1 July 14^th - 18th: AdventurePlex gym, 1701 Marine Avenue, Manhattan Beach (northeast corner of Redondo Ave & Marine, in building covered by climbing wall)

 

Week 2 July 21^st - 25th: Westchester Park gym, 7000 W. Manchester Blvd, Westchester (south east corner Lincoln & Manchester, just west of golf course parking lot)

 

Week 3 July 28^th - August 1st: American Martyrs gym, 701 15^th St, Manhattan Beach

 

Week 4 & 5 August 4 - 8 & Aug 11 - 15: Rolling Hills Prep Gym, 1780 A Street, Torrance (near intersection of Carson & Crenshaw, 4 minutes off the 405 & Crenshaw)

 

Please bring indoor court shoes, kneepads, water & smiling attitudes

Players without required equipment will not be allowed to participate
