Chip Schulte

  • Position: Club Director, Head Coach

With BCVC Since:  The Beginning (2000)

  • Founder, Beach Cities Volleyball
  • Coached 12 Smack for 21 years; his 12 Smack teams have placed in the SCVA Gold Division 16 of last 18 years
  • In 2021 the 12 Smack won 2nd Place in the entire SCVA, and 3rd Place in the Volleyball Festival Nationals
  • Over 50 players from the 12 Smack have gone on to successful college careers across the nation
  • Players for the last six years are still in high school and playing for their high school teams across the South Bay
  • 12 Smack teams have won the Volleyball Festival Nationals, Far West (Reno) Jr Olympic Qualifiers, Northeast (Philadelphia) Jr Olympic Qualifiers, won the Silver medal of the United States Volleyball Jr Nationals in Minneapolis and took 11th in the Championship Division of the USA Jr Nationals in New Orleans
  • Coached 13 years at WNS of the Pacific Basin Divisions. His teams reached the championship finals in 11 of those 13 years, won the championship six times
  • Beach Cities Volleyball has been honored with/won “Best of the Westside”, Best of Rancho Palos Verdes and Chip has won “KNX Hero of the week” and Volleyball Festival’s “Annual Service to Youth Sports” awards.

Tony Mayrie

  • Position: Coach

With BCVC Since: The beginning (2000)

  • Former Head Coach Serra High School Varsity Boys and Girls
  • Former Head Coach Dorsey High School the only year Dorsey got to the City Playoffs
  • Former Head Coach St. Anastasia three years, two of which St. A’s won the Southern Section Championship

  • Founding member of Beach Cities Volleyball.
  • 2017 14 Smack Team won the Southern California Junior Olympic Qualifier
  • 2018 15 Smack Team won the Southern California Junior Olympic Qualifier
  • 2019 16 Smack Team won the Southern California Junior Olympic Qualifier
  • 2019 14 Smack Team won the Southern California Junior Olympic Qualifier

Brenda Gonzalez

  • Position: Coach

  • Four Year Varsity Letter, St. Monica High School, 3 yrs All-League
  • Four Year Varsity Letter, Hampton University (D1), 3 years Hampton Varsity MVP, Freshman of the Year
  • Previous Head Coach of Vistamar High School 2006-2011
  • JV coach at Serra High School
  • Current Head Coach of Boys and Girls at St Monica High School
  • Brenda’s Beach Cities Volleyball teams have taken 15th in 2004, 9th in 2005, 4th in 2006, finalists in 2007 and 2008, and 6th in 2009, 2nd in 2015 at the Volleyball Festival Nationals.  Three times her teams have made it to the Volleyball Festival Finals

Phil Spazek

  • Position: Director of Future Stars Program, Director of Beach Program, Coach

With BCVC Since: 2003

  • Phil has over 30 years of volleyball coaching experience under his belt
  • In addition, Phil heads our Palos Verdes Volleyball satellite, leading multiple Palos Verdes teams to successful seasons and helping beginner Starters participants develop the necessary skills to play volleyball in club, middle school, high school, and beyond.

Kevin Williams

  • Position: Coach

With BCVC Since: 2006

  • Kevin played college volleyball as Middle Blocker at California State University, Long Beach
  • In addition to volleyball, Kevin played two years of professional basketball in Europe
  • Kevin is now in his 9th season coaching the Girls and Boys Programs at Peninsula High School
  • Kevin has consistently coached Gold level teams at BCVC and players to successful High School careers that ultimately led many of his players to college careers.

Russell Randall

  • Position: Coach

With BCVC Since:  2008

  • 12 Smack Assistant coach since 2008
  • Three years assistant coach UC Davis women’s volleyball
  • Twelve years assistant coach UC Davis men’s collegiate club volleyball
  • Four years Davis Volleyball Club 14’s coach
  • Four years Davis Junior High coach
  • Six years coach at Vistamar High School.

 

John “Fuzz” Navagh

  • Position: Coach

With BCVC Since: 2008

  • Fuzz started coaching in 2007 as a Clinician for the USYVL in El Segundo, demonstrating volleyball skills and drills to coaches and players
  • Head Coach of BCVC 11 Smack since the 2010 season, coaching young players to success in the SCVA, National Volleyball Festival, and Girls Junior National Championships
  • He is USA Volleyball CAP II Certified and AAU/PCA Double Goal Certified
  • All around nice guy

Ryan Cronin

  • Position: Coach

  • University of Rhode Island
  • Coached Women’s Division I Programs at Holy Cross University and Boston College
  • AVP qualifiers and main draws 2002-2004
  • 2004 amateur national championship runner up
  • AAA RATING 2003-2010, top 10 in CA 2008/9
  • Assistant coach Torrance high school.
  • Festival team 2019 moved up 60 spots!
